Not only do I remember the show, but I took a driver's ed class during that era and drove the exact same simulator as the one in Part 1. The clutch pedal folded up into the dash if you wanted 'automatic'. Since when is what happens at 5:34 a common hazard?
Hey, this one has a link to a Burt Reynolds movie called White Lightning where he wrecks a lot of cars, imagine that! http://youtu.be/PRZ4xZz4Jkk
I drove a very similar simulator with the same folding clutch pedal etc. It had no tactile feedback so of course everyone was doing 90 MPH and didn't know it. I failed my azz off in the simulator but passed the real life driving test with the instructor perfectly. Unlike the poor slob who came back in from his test, was asked to set the parking brake and instead he popped the hood latch.
The bikini clad girl climbing in the Porsche wasn't in the films I saw. Dammit.
Wow, if yall hadn't said it first I'd have never believe those simulators were real.
I got my license in '97 and we didn't even have driver's education. We just took a written test, had a permit for 30 days, and then took a driving test @ the county courthouse.
But then again, that was rural Kentucky.
way back in the mid '60's we had drivers ed even here in rural mountains of WNC ... no simulators, and the car was a '65 Plymouth Valiant ... the first ever automatic at our school.... it really wasn't much good, but you had to take it
