That's what my Daughter said when she called this afternoon. Oh crap! She was coming home from college for an autocross this weekend. She had clipped a curb on an off ramp and lost control. The car smacked the curb hard. Two flat tires and "the wheels don't look too good." Great. Thank the good Lord no one was hurt and the ramp was empty when it happened. It sure scared the crap out of her though. She said she was only going 45-50. I think she cut the inside cone(curb) a little too close and caught it with the back tire. She said the back end jumped sideways and before she could correct it, it tail slapped the curb. That spun the car and dug the front into the curb shattering the front wheel.
I of course had just loaded the trailer for the autocross. So home I go to unload the trailer and go get her. She's an hour from home. Damage done so far, two broken wheels and a FUBAR axle. I'm sure the front end is bent too. The front wheel has about six inches missing out of it. Not what I was planning to do this afternoon or next weekend.
I guess tomorrow she gets to start looking for parts. I guess I get to find out how much of a PITA it is to change an axle in a Camaro. Much to her dismay, she does too.
Glad she's okay. Yeah, get her down and dirty swapping parts; she has a good head on her shoulders but I bet she will take a bit more care now.
Of course glad to hear she's OK and sorry about the car but an autocrosser clipped a curb? Sorry...I just had to say it. Hope it all works out for you, that's a real bummer.
You must have trained her well. Most girls would have been texting, flipped the car, watch it catch fire, and let it burn.
I guess it cost her more than two seconds.
Glad she is not hurt.
Dan Gurney would have be proud. Watched him do something similar in the TransAm.

Yeah, more like two hours waiting, an axle, two wheels, two tires, an alignment plus any other parts that are broken, bent, or similarly disfigured. Bank of Dad isn't covering this one. She's going to be tight on living expenses for the rest of the year.

I guess I can't call you a perverted old man since I have a son older than you, but as far as you bunch of sick twisted people are concerned she's 4'9" and 300 pounds.

how do you know that 4-9 and 300 isn't what we are into?
And I will stop right there. Extra point's to your daughter for driving a camaro though.
Good job she didn't roll it. That would've been worse. Good news is, fixing it will be mostly replacing parts, if the suspension mounts didn't get tweaked too. Check them first...you may end up replacing the car cheaper than fixing this one. And the 'extra points for driving a Camaro' applies as well. Good luck with school of hard knocks. She'll learn well, though.
Unlike Mrs. 914 who spun the Ranger on a ramp and couldn't say if she did a 90' or a 450' into the guard rail; your daughter was aware and kept her head. That's alone is reason to celebrate. She did well, boinked a wheel and some whatevers but she's fine.
Puff your chest out in the knowlege you grandkiddies may get the occasional squeal ride, but they're safer than most.
Dan
She knew what she did wrong. I don't think she will make that mistake again. She's madder at herself than I am with her.
It apparently runs in the family. I put a Malibu wagon into the curb on an on ramp when I was her age twice...on the same day. The first time was kind of fun, the second time took out the rear wheel. I was kind of hard headed back then. I was even nice enough to tell her about it.
At least she's okay. Car parts can be replaced.

What he FORGOT to include was his wife was in the car four months pregnant both times he hit the curb. It was funny the first time. Not so much the second.
All in all....I'm just glad she is okay...I'd rather an expensive lesson than a deadly one.

Welcome to the board, Mrs. Tman!
Any chance it was this daughter you were carrying during that curb-carnage? Because that might explain a lot of things.
Love your avatar, too! You have to be an angel to love someone who gravitates to this place.
In reply to oldsaw:
Nope, that was the 23 year old eldest son. Who has given us our fair share of "Mom/Dad, you are gonna be mad!" himself. 16 years old and wrecks while I am on the phone with the then girlfriend.... I heard it ALL. Needless to say, they have used up their quota of scaring us to death. The last two boys are NOT allowed to wreck anything.
Thanks! I like that avatar too!

I've met those two. Good luck with that.
