Are they just going for Opel, or all the GM Euro lines(Saab, Vauhxall)?

And looking into this, all I can think of is how TG's "Worst Car EVER"(vectra) is on the same platform as the malibu and such.

Top Gear both praises cars and derides them alternately. Look at how they treat Peugeot and Fiat. They have named atleast a dozen "Worst Car EVER"s during their run. Take it with a shaker of salt.

And according to the article, it looks like their interested in the whole lineup. Not sure why, but maybe they think they can get it all at a firesale price.

wasn't GM at some point a partial owner of FIAT or have a stake in them?

On first glance, I read the subject line as "Dang Fiats -- Want to own them all!"

(I've got a 124, I'd like an X1/9, a 500, a 131 mirafiori...)

GM did have a share in Fiat, then decided they didn't want it. Cost them a bundle to get out of the deal. Fiat came up smelling like roses.
