So, at long last my KLZE is assembled and hanging on a chain above the empty engine bay of my MX3.
Unfortunately, the lovely, spiffy aluminum Fidanza flywheel just didn't fit. I bought it, NIB from another MX3-er, who perhaps either neglected to tell me it was for a four cylinder, or who maybe bought the wrong one.
Rather than delay it any longer, I elected to just have the stocker machined so the swap could go ahead.
Instant gratification is much easier than waiting for the UPS truck, isn't it?

Yeah... it's been delayed too long already. The Interprep spring set I bought was missing six springs, had to order more. Then, tracking down some locks and keepers was almost farcical, god I hate dealing with people on the internet. I arrived at one place to pick up a set of heads... the engine was still in the car! Another guy decided he wanted $260. Doh.
Make sure you use your MX3 flywheel, it's pretty light in the first place. The only lighter stock flywheel in that series is off the KF-ZE. (Don't know if you have the KLZE wheel laying around or something)
I still have to decide if i should use my MX3 flywheel or get a fancy schmancy super-light one.

I'm using the KLZE wheel, it just seemed to make more sense than using the one off the 1.8L.
I'm wondering if the Fidanza wheel, if for a four cylinder, would fit a Miata? If so, it should be easy enough to find it a new home.

No don't do that. Use the one from the 1.8. It weighs literally half as much.
Seriously, don't use the KLZE unit, thank me later.

Really? Thanks for the tip!!
The KLZE guys will actively try to buy the K8 flywheel if they don't have the cash for the Fidanza.
I'll probably just end up using my K8 unit because it's a hard pill to swallow to spend more on the clutch and flywheel than i spent on the engine and car, respectively.

I am so pissed that this Fidanza doesn't fit. It's so pretty, I may just hang it in my office.
I'm going to scrap the K8, if you need anything, let me know.
I'm good, but i appreciate the offer. I've got an 80k mile K8 to scrap myself.
Can you see any part numbers on the Fidanza? Should be able to figure out what it goes to.

Now I'm getting excited!!
My plan is to do as many lapping days on Mosport's DDT as I can, then sign up for some at the big track. Last year was my first event out on that big track that allowed passing, cripes, some of those Porsches whiz by at 230, most of the upholstery disappeared up my backside...

Lesley,
our club is running a day at Shannonville on May 30th -- full track. Lots of instructors available. Relaxed -- and a little more challenging than the DDT.
We'd be thrilled to have you.
