That is pretty rough. Glad she came out of it ok. So was the cage not tied into the front of the car?
In reply to T.J. :
From the looks of it the cage was not attached, nor was the seat or seatbelts, her helmet, anything. Holy crap. Incredibly lucky.
Sounds like my local track.
Tech inspection consists primarily of a check of the onboard fire extinguisher in place and charged.
I would venture to say that the lack of any barrier in front of that tree is a HUGE safety problem on the part of the track.
The driver flew out of the seat - No seat belts or they were not attached.
The drivers helmet flew off - Not strapped on or not on.
I agree that was 2 cars poorly joined.
She did not loose control and hit the tree - She was pushed into the tree.
A perfect storm of chaos bringing together multiple indiscretions/failures.
Sheesh, women drivers! Just kidding, but she really needs to learn to weld better or hire a profesional car builder
I'm trying to imagine how many things were done wrong there, from car selection to prep to doing up your berkeleying belts and chin strap, and to have all that preparation for destruction ruined by luck.
Good Lord'n'butter, that was the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

Yeah this video has been making rounds for a while and that has been the consensus.

Properly built cages in cars that are still just ONE car don't fail like this at those speeds.
There was a huge failure in the preparation that allowed this to be as bad as it was.
It's by pure luck the driver isn't DEAD after all the preparation failures and this accident.
