Happened to be told of a clean NB Miata in need of an engine transplant for a song....the question is, what would a 1.8 run me and what would the subsequent car be ballpark worth? Pretty sure it's red/tan, no hard top, and unknown on other particulars. I would offer it to Ben, but I won't as he still has a shell up here. And no, I'd never keep the thing.....Bavarians are the correct answer.

Yes I am, and always have. The Bavarian answer happens to even be Miata sized but much more useful.

Is the question is who looks funny in liederhosen? Then Bavarians are certainly the correct answer!

I can't think of another question to which that answer would be correct.

Can you flip the Miata w/o putting an engine in it?
More of a no-touch flip.

I don't have the answers to your questions, but... since your Indy-ish in area, if you pass on this cheap Miata, let me know the details, as I may want to pick one up for myself.

Maybe, unfortunately the only people localish in this area that would shop for such a thing are broke dicks. The engine swap crowd are too busy ruining sc300's and rx8's currently.

1.8 would be around $400-500. Figure $2000+ for a running car unless it is completely beat.

i KNOW that recently a running driving Miata with clutch issues was purchased for $50 locally. So..... yeah. I'd give $100 for it.

$400-$500 sounds like an NA 1.8, an NB motor is going to be more (at least around here)

I wonder how much I should have opened my pie hole given my screen name...

I just grabbed a mint running 2000 NB, and the wife loves it... I do to. Where are you? I would want a project one for myself... No touch flip.

Thanks Ross

Well, this is word of mouth through a close friend in Indianapolis.

FYI, the one I picked up is about perfect, for 1300. 100,024 miles.

One thing to consider is the season... Buy it, fix quickly, profit in Spring.

Thanks Ross
