my current design project, a jaguar xjs race car designed to group 5 rules (google Hist_App_J_81_Art_269_a).

tube frame chassis (not shown in the chassis pic, but what is left of the steel body after being cut to bare bones would be welded to it)

twin turbo V12 ( would have to put out in the region of 850-950hp to be competitive with cars like the 935's and zakspeed capris)

front tyre: 25.5X12.5R16 rear tyre: 27x15-17 or 27x15-18

I'm not planning on building this as it would simply cost to much and take too much time (ive got another project that I do plan on building) the wheels and tyres alone would cost more than most entire cars.

I like it a lot, but I would like it more with a twin turbo straight 6.

Very cool. I don't think you could go wrong with either the V12 or the straight-six.

For some additional inspiration, I'd recommend looking at the TWR Supercat.

I did see that, very cool car and khyzl always does good stuff, I just prefer the classic look and rawness from a full-on period race car like the group 44 machine.

some further developments, more equipment added, strut brace, ducts, driveshaft, fuel cell etc.

and started modeling the modified steel body.

is there actually any racing series where this would still be within regulations?

I imagine you could run with the vintage racing series (SVRA, et al) or at places like Goodwood or Monterey.  NASA (National Auto Sport Association) maybe?

EDIT:  Definitely UTCC, this thing would be a track monster.

would certainly be a blast to watch it in something like that.

As said above its not really my jam, and with a price tag of 280000 usd its about 10x further out of my realm than this.

In the end i am just designing this for fun, and while i am designing it to a point where it could well be built in the real world, i have no ambitions to do so.

But I kind of do.

No. That former member nuked every thread he participated in.

While the idea of the person was interesting, the reality was terrible.

In reply to Mugglesworth:

Keep up the good work! It looks like a fun car.

What was his issue? His xjs build thread was quite helpful with its pictures of the chassis

Like Toyman! said. And I'll just leave it at he was banned under two different usernames.
