What a display of carnage at the end. The green white checker ending is just an opportunity for them to tear up more trucks. There was no opportunity for actual racing at the end. It is just put the hammer down and be dammed if anyone is in your way. No racing just wreck the guy in front of you to win. The yellow truck that was leading after the first GWC and got punted by the rookie was just BS. There should have been penalties dolled out for that one. They guy even said it on the radio that he wrecked him. And the hits that some of these guys took. Those were fatalities (or at least serious injury) 10 years ago . Yet today they walk away. It is a testament to the engineers that have designed all the safety in to these cars and the safety equipment but it also got me thinking. Would these drivers drive like this if the consequences were you could get killed or you may kill some one? What happened to racing?

I was very disappointed with the ending. I don't like seeing race cars getting trashed. I especially don't like seeing them going into the catch fence. That is some scary stuff!!!! I don't like seeing the crashes that have sudden stops. They make me cring. The ending of that race just sucked. I say give them one GWC. I also think that there should be stricter rules about contact and punting other drivers when they are in "overtime"

Anyway thanks for reading I just needed to vent.

I am hoping that the nationwide race and the sprint cup race is better.

GWC is just NASCAR's way to add to their WWE reputation .... fans .... the casual type ... want to see wrecks, not racing

I make that observation based on the comments I get from folk at work .... their exact words ... " yeah I watch the NASCAR races ... I like the wrecks ..."

I point out to them that people die in car wrecks and the damage results in 10's of thousands of $$$$ in repairs ... and the response is a shrug of the shoulders

I was really cheering for Johnny Sauter at the end, cause he's the only famous race car driver to ever tell me to berkeley off.

NASCAR started the GWC finish because a lot of races were finishing under yellow and the fans didn't pay good money to see the race finish at 30mph..

as usual, if you don't like it, don't watch it.. i don't watch F1 or Indy cars very often because i don't like their style of racing, and i don't feel the need to post up a "wtf? no one passed anyone in the F1 race today. what a bunch of BS" thread when i do happen to catch one of the races..

maybe you should go back and re-read my post ... yeah, the one you quoted .... never said I didn't like it ( so I shouldn't watch it ) what I said was it was ( to paraphrase and make it easier for you to understand ) it was their way to enhance their rep as an entertainment event ... kinda like (many of ) the phantom debris cautions

I happen to respect and admire the abilities of the drivers ... but what I can't understand in any-way-shape-or-form is the attitude of the fans that would rather see wrecks than racing

I was aware of the race while drinking beer with my buddy Mike at the local Eagles club last night. It looked like a disaster. Every time I'd turn around there'd be another wreck of some kind.

Just confirmation of why I don't make an effort to watch NASCAR.

The last few days haven't been much else besides tearing up race cars (and trucks). I am a Nascar fan, but this kind of racing(?) just sucks. The Nationwide race was a huge joke. Sad part is most of those guys in the top 10 those last few laps are all Nascar Cup series race winners and champions. Supposed to be the best of the best. Not from what I saw. Good thing there's only 4 restrictor plate races each year.

I watched the end. Like a basketball game, there is no point in watching the beginning. Yeah the GWC is as tacky as a Velvet Elvis painting, but racing is still fun to watch.

I read a good article the other day on next year's Sprint Cup cars. NASCAR said that, although the cars will have dimensisions very close to their production counterparts, NASCAR will continue its tradition of managed competition.

Managed competition is instituting a formula. NASCAR wants to run a spec series in all aspects but name. If it and its fans would call a spade a spade, I for one would be happy.

I stopped watching IRL because it became a spec series.

I am convinced that he golden age for American Racing (of all types) was from 1965-1990.

So what do you call F1 these days? It's WAY more managed than NASCAR. Two different tire compounds and the rear wing flap were both brought in so that people could pass. Otherwise, it's a parade of how they qualified.

managed competition .... it's what most forms of racing are in this day-n-age... the biggest problem I have with NASCAR ( and I still watch some of the races..... especially if there isn't any thing else to do that day) is the restrictor plates and the BS cautions .... other than that it's still racing
