The Cummins 4BT has been done in S10s, might be a good choice for an Astro van as well. They are usually found in panel van/bread trucks/delivery trucks. Some are also in forklifts and Bobcats, but I believe they need the injector pump changed as those are set to run at steady speeds, not varied like a car/truck on the road.
Well, for the easy fit, there was a GM 4.3 V-6 diesel.
Of course, it was 3/4 of the crappy Olds 350 Diesel, so you probably don't want it.

He used a NA 6.5 diesel in his astro van.
