Some couches can recline. Others sport a built-in refrigerator, cup holders, and a little cubby for the TV remote. Georgia Tech’s Wreck Racing, regular entrants in our $2000 Challenge, built a piece of living room furniture that can go nearly 20 mph.

Loved the article on the race couch. Nice!
There used to be a guy in Minneapolis who would enter his motorized sofa in the annual Art Car parade. There was someone else who combined a Laz-E-Boy recliner with a scooter, and apparently it was road legal - I'd see him driving around town and there were lights, mirrors and a license plate on it.
I was lucky to go for a ride on RaceCouch, and it's pretty sweet.
Every college dorm has a solid couch. However, I bet they rarely leave the building, let alone move under power.

What they did with the couch is remarkable, but if they want to set records with it, they need to up their game. Edd China hold the world record for the fastest couch:
His couch only does 87 MPH. This couch can hit at least 100 MPH.
Ha, I'm in that pre-race-couch photo, back when we simply hoisted it everywhere. Wow, that was 11 years ago and that couch was nasty even then.

Race Couch has seen things.
