I am not really happy with the seats in my 300ZX so I have been looking at other seat options; used Recaros from an Evo seem like they would be a great option, but I am unsure of how they mount; are the mounts unique to Mitsubishi, or is there a standard Recaro mounting setup underneath? Do all Recaros have the same mount pattern regardless of the car they came OE in? I have a hunch they are all the same and the rails are just different but I could use some verification.

Porsche seats (made by Recaro) have 16" wide rails. Both rails are in the same plane.

Thanks Woody, that gets me on the right path; I am seeing a 406mm (15.98") mount width for their 'universal' seats so my hunch may be correct. Would anybody else be able to verify with, say, a set of Cobalt SS, VW or Evo Recaros?

I have a set of Porsche seats in my basement if you need photos.

The seat on the left is from a 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera. The seat on the right is from a 2004 911 GT3. Boxster and Cayman seats have frames similar to the GT3. They have small tabs at the front that bend down at an angle. I either flattened or removed these (can't remember which) from the GT3 seats and installed them in the '87. The rails are longer from front to rear, but it's not a huge issue.

The older Recaros all used the same bolt pattern on the bottom of the seat pan. It's like playing with Lego, you can mix and match parts from different models easily. I have three different sets of seats, one is the OEM VW GTI model and the other two were aftermarket Model"C" and LS-Cs. They can all be bolted to the VW tracks. I imagine their current models are designed to much the same Lego philosophy.

I think that's true only for their current aftermarket stuff. It might be a crapshoot if you are talking "factory" Recaros, although they may swap between cars from the same brand. The optional Recaros in my 2013 Mustang, for example, probably will not fit in any other car except the S197-chassis Mustang and maybe some other Fords. I can measure tomorrow.

Obviously the sliders/vehicle mounting points will be different, but what I am wondering is if they all have the same dimensions where the seat mounts to the slider itself. So far it seems like this might be the case...if you could measure the dimensions of how the seat mounts to the slider that would be kickass.
That's what I meant.....the bolt pattern between the seat pan and the tracks may be a constant. My older seats all have 6 bolt holes...two closer to the front of the seat and one at the back for each track. Width is about 16", the two front holes are about an inch apart, and the front hole to back hole is 10.25". All dimensions were measured with a carpenter's tape.
Have you considered used '02-'03 WRX seats? They are super comy and always seem to be on CL (except when I need them).
