Hey guys,
Help me diagnose a problem on a 2005 neon. It is a SXT, slushbox and only has 28k miles. It has an intermitant problem. It stalls and stumbles off idle (to about 35 mph). It has died a few times. The owner has had it to the stealership with no luck...it doesnt throw a CEL. Several people have looked at it with no real suggestions...Im thinking start with a good throtle body cleaning. I looked under the hood and didnt see any obvious vaccum lines that were cracked or anything...any ideas or problem areas with these cars?
I have looked elsewhere but I know the GRM community is better than the rest!

Take out the CTS (coolant temperature sensor), and check to see if it's cracked in any way, or has a bad wire connection. It should have 3 leads, and if any one of them goes amiss, it drives the PCM crazy. They get brittle and send bad readings. It happened on my Neon and damn near drove me insane, until I figured it out by accident..
BTW, no Neon has been produced since 1999.
are we to assume that any Neon after '99 is a pos ?
Ok I will have to give that a look see...would that throw a CEL if the parameters were out of range...maybe not just asking.

Not if you can find a Coupe with a twincam.
The rest of 'em are your momma's car.
The idle air control or a vacuum leak are possibilities.
