Just wondering if anyone knows.

Shouldn't. It's petroleum based and seems very stable. High boiling point, nice smell. It may stain though. What do you wish to accomplish?

I was going to use it on the throttle/clutch/brake cables of my GS1000 Suzuki and was afraid the stuff might damage the paint on the gas tank.

I've used aerokroil on many things that are painted and I have never had any damage.

On cables? It's not a very good cable lube. This stuff from Motion Pro is as good as any, and the lube injector is a must, if you don't have one already.

And if you're using AeroKroil near paint, give the bike a wipe w/ Honda shine on a soft cloth afterwards just to be safe.

You probably know this already, but brake fluid eats all paint. A drop left on overnight is a hole in the morning.

In reply to motomoron:

Wasn't thinking of it so much as a general lubricant, but rather as a means of getting some of the "sticky" out of the cable from years of non-use. I'll get some of the Motion Pro product and an injector per your recommendation after they've freed up from some use. Thanks for the recommendation.
