The design of the new BMW M4 has been divisive, to say the least, but now BMW gave us a closer look at both the street and racing versions of the M4 Coupe at this past weekend's MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring in Styria, Austria.
Even though both were camouf…

The exhaust in the front fender makes my pants tight.
Hate the grille on the road car. Kinda like it on the race car.

Nope. It sucks no matter how you slice it or dice it. S-U-X-X-O-R-S.
I got a tingle for about 3 nanoseconds when I saw the teasers about the M3/M4 Touring. Then I remembered it would have this gawdawful maw hanging off the front of it and immediately lost all interest.
And they continue to lose me more and more with the styling. Oh well, I'm done with modern, turbo BMWs after my 135i experience.
The M6 GT3 and M8 GTLM look waaaaay better. Looks like BMW is trying to out-ugly Lexus with their "butterface" cars.
The great thing with race cars like these is they often get crashed, seeing that thing buried in a tire wall won't be too bad.
The red lipstick makes it look like a low born gutter slut.
i threw up in my mouth a little

It is unequivocally awful. No amount of paint, number of flares, or interesting exhaust routing can save it. BMW's embrace of the "LOOK AT MEEE!!!" school of design runs counter to their entire corporate history and ethos, or at least the last 50+ years of it. The only solution is to pack the entire design team and the board that approved this abomination into it and light it on fire, then start over like it never existed.
Its ugly enough to make me go out to the driveway and remember they did used to make pretty cars:
Whew, there's some eyebleach. Even TRYING to make the nose look big in this picture, it's still a sharp looking car.
BMW getting back at Pontiac by putting a Dodge grille on the car?
For some reason, this Star Trek episode comes to mind.

That part looks cool.

Allegedly BMW has gone to the coke nostrils as a result of feedback from their PRC focus groups. (Logical, as it is a growing market for BMW)
I've owned a lot of BMWs. Some old, some new. If the new design philosophy is what's to be expected going forward, I won't buy another one. Not interested in buying a car that looks like it has a substance abuse problem.

Copy that! I hate to say it, but now I miss Bangle. The cars themselves don't look too bad, but the new BMW grills, I would imagine a lot of people are going to vote by buying another brand. My dad is a looonnnggg time BMW buyer, and I heard him mutter something about Mercedes this time around.
It's beautiful and I love it. The rest of you are wrong.

I've been saying for the past 3 years that bourgeois new-money Chinese taste is going to destroy luxury car styling.

We're not wrong; you're clearly insane.
There is a reason they have that dazzle camo paint scheme on it.
