Eyeing some super rad exhaust tips, but I'd like 'em a lot better if they were, say, 10% cheaper. Does Summit ever email out discounts?

No. But they will do %off certain brands, %off for new speed card holders, random 10%off, and $5/order through the app.

As I understand it, they work in volume more than profit-per-piece.  They're like the WalMart of car stuff.  Not much wiggle room.  Tire Rack seems to operate similarly.  I might find a price a couple dollars cheaper somewhere else, but I can pretty much count on Summit/Tire Rack having a price that is close enough to the cheapest that I don't bother searching.  Not worth it to me to scour the web for 45 minutes to save $4 on something.  They have it, I can pretty much guarantee it's a fair price, click buy.

Usually Summit's sales are when the manufacturer has a rebate or an overstock.

Discounts do exist but aren't really given out to the general public. I've got a 10% off coupon that came with my scca membership renewal that I'm realistically not going to use if someone wants it.

I picked up a flyer at an event that offered 10% off an order, I think of over $100.

When I tried to use it I found I could buy the identical part from an Ebay vendor for less than the discounted price. Not the first time I've found them to be full retail. For as Wal-Mart as Summit is, they don't pass savings along to the customer. I see no advantage is using them.

SCCA membership gets you a 10% coupon each year, with very limits on it. My goal each year is to save it for something big enough to pay for my SCCA membership that year

In reply to ddavidv :

Given that ebay has been over run with Chinese knockoffs for about 20 years, I'd be wary unless I could verify I was buying from an individual and not an Alibaba drop shipper

In my example it was an Addco sway bar. Not something the China cloners would bother with. I also check the sellers to make sure they at least appear to have a physical US presence.
