Looking at 2006 Miata Grand Touring. It would seem as though the car has had a light hit to the front, pics indicate the fenders haven't been touched since it left the factory.
I could see getting a front bumper, painted/installed/etc being more than $750?
I know "go look at it" is the BEST answer, but the car is 4 hour drive away, unfortunately.
Sitting at a light, had a Suburban decide he wanted to be in the other lane, put the car in reverse and backed up. Laid on my horn to no avail and I had people behind me so I couldn't back up.
His hitch ball punched through the bumper of my Civic Si. You could have put a front plate over it and never known it was there.
Replacement (his insurance paid) was $1300 or so. For, in essence, a bumper cover.
I could see the front bumper replacement being over $750 easy on a Miata.

750 would be an unpainted bumper cover.
Wow, dealership is going above and beyond.
They are taking off the undertray and putting it up on a lift to take pictures for me.
If it's a light hit, maybe just the bumper cover and a headlight, that doesn't bother me. If the core support or something else looks off, that does.
My insurance paid $900 To replace the bumper cover, bumper shocks and repair hood damage on my Durango. If it was a bumper cover that just got replaced, I could see it being about $750 bucks.
my wife's car got a scratch, that I later buffed out completely, and the estimate was higher than that.
Well, the pictures all looked good. The bumper support, core support, tie rods/control arms all look like the original stuff.
So, it's between two '06 Grand Touring Miatas, similar price, similar miles, both in great condition, and both 2.75 hours away in opposite directions.
What colours? I will never buy another black Miata. Other than being a Miata, the only redeeming part was that it was quick to clean (being black, it always needed cleaning)

Same with my focus's rear. 950, I believe.

I bumped a woman once at 2 mph causing some small flex crack in the paint on her bumper cover and the estimate was more than that. (still pissed about that one!)

In reply to N Sperlo:
My focus got a scratch on the back bumper too.......oddly enough, that got there when it nearly totalled my ex gf's '07 Accent.....

One red, one winning blue metallic.
Yeah, I like the blue color a bit better, but the red one has approx. 8k less miles (not a big deal and it's the one with bumper replace and it's nearly $1k cheaper).
Also, the dealership with the red one has seemed much more "Accommodating" if that's the right word. So we will see.
My juggle was between a grey and blue one. The grey one was $3k more but 50k mi difference, and looked it, was a hour and half closer. But the dealer with the cheaper car was far more accommodating, offering to drive my Scirocco 3 hours home for me when my wingman couldn't go with me and the dealer treated me like a human being, not a sales mark.
Bonus was that it was the blue car, and the money I saved we t into wheels and suspension work.
Looks like I'm going with the red one. The dealer with blue car came back with a near insulting trade-in offer.
The red one isn't perfect for the mileage, but I'll be saving so much money per month, I don't really care!
I figure between payment, gas, insurance......I'll be saving approx. $350-400 per month.......and the car only has 35k miles and the leather/bose/6 spd........so it's not like it's a terrible car or anything.
I don't blame you at all then. I've been enjoying the same for the last 2 months and no matter how you go its a nice way to get around. 8) They hold up well with miles, mine had 95k and it has to be the cleanest car I've ever had.
