according to the first part of that story, the toyota avalon would have to hit 25 mpg in 2011, then in the second part, the avalon gets 29mpg and only beats its 2011 target by one mpg. seems like someone needs to go back and look at the numbers again.

also, 21 mpg in a 5000lb SUV is a lot better than any of them do right now

and finally, the gvw based classifications has been since before shrub was in office. up until a few years ago, you didnt have to wear a seatbelt in a truck 1-ton or larger either.

Wonder if cars like the new mini and miatas would survive this? or will they go the way of the new Ford GT
