My '66 3.8S is a Moss Box; it's notchy but slides into gear easily. Probably the most quirky manual I've ever driven whose quirkiness doesn't translate into "terrible to drive".
The '64 Corvair on the other hand...shift a 1960's GM 4 speed via 8 feet of rods and a 2 foot long, curved shifter, for very long and you really develop an appreciation for just how good every other manual transmission is. I tell Mrs. VCH, it's like mixing a bowl of mashed potatoes full of rocks.
And the clutch is also actuated via 8 feet of cable, around several pullies. It's like GM was actively punishing those who didn't want a powerglide.
