I let my Miata sit too long and paid the price–a totally dead battery. My penance arrived in the form of a bill from the local auto parts store.
The redemption? A day out. Just me, the Miata and a packed camera bag containing some black-and-white film.
The goal: Take some photos while burn…

Also, looking back, I think I did more driving than photography that day.
Not that I’m complaining, of course.
What camera and film did you use? Just curious for future reference.
In reply to Colin Wood :
The bail bonds sign and the old chimneys: Minolta CLE w/Kodak Tri-X.
The rest: Canon A-1 w/Ilford XP2.
And that XP2 film is pretty sharp. I have been happy with the results. Nothing beats Tri-X, of course. :)

Thanks for the reminder of the roll of film I shot a few months ago, for the first time in decades, that's sitting on my desk waiting to be developed. And a roll of IR film I want to experiment with.

That reminds me that I have a roll from this weekend that I need to drop off. Maybe during lunch.
People still shoot film? My god, I didnt think you could even buy it anymore.
In reply to livinon2wheels :
Yup, I’ve gone back in time. I shoot both digital and film.
More on film here: I broke out a film camera this weekend.
GRM is all shot on digital. For Classic Motorsports, maybe we’ve snuck in some film photos lately.

Nice little article. Makes my heart glad to see someone doing what I want to be doing RIGHT NOW instead of being at my desk.
In reply to DavyZ :
Thanks and, if it makes you feel any better, I’m also currently at my desk.
I-4 to go back home. Why not 415, and no pics with the top down?
In reply to 88accord :
I debated returning via 415 but it was getting a bit late and I had just sat in Orange City traffic for longer than I cared to. By the time I photographed the fighter, I kinda wanted to just get home.
Good question why no photos with the top down. I had the top up but all three windows open for the first part of the trip as the sun was unrelenting that afternoon.
Reminds me of a drive-for-no-real-reason I took to Cape Code decades ago with my new-acquired BMW 2002 and my Minolta X-9 (the Minolta I still have, the BMW, not so much)...

I like those kinds of drives. Just get out and enjoy the moment, right?
Since it’s not (yet) raining, the plan is to do something similar later today: drive, making some photos, burn some film.
Made it out today with the cameras. Stopped again in Bunnell before eventually walking around downtown Hastings. Hope to drop off film early/middle next week.
Found this while out and about today, too.
