I'm trying to find a better solution for carrying and storing my driver gear. Currently, I have a generic duffle bag for my suit, longjohns, socks, gloves and shoes with a separate cheapo helmet bag for my helmet and balaclava, and my hans just hangs out in it's little bag.

I would prefer a single bag that can accomodate all of my crap, ideally with separate compartments for my clothing, shoes, helmet, and hans. Rolling would be cool, but I don't mind shouldering it.

Every bag I've seen on the market is basically just an overpriced giant duffle bag sack. There are a few nice helmet bags that will also fit the hans... maybe I just need one of those and the bag I already have for the other stuff.

Anyone else have something better?

Google search "duffle bag compartments" and you get all kinds of hits. Including things like this:

and this:

And this:

That said, for generically carrying stuff, I find the equally generic duffle bag hard to beat. At the most, I might use some towels and baggies for specific items in it.

This is my all-purpose answer to every bag, luggage, and transport crate issue:

Pelican 1620

It will hold anything. It's checkable without an oversize fee. It is impervious to all forms of baggage handler abuse. It also makes a decent indoor/outdoor coffee table, bench, roof rack unloading stool . . . .

Because my wife and I both race (sometimes flying to races) we bought a bauer hockey bag.

It even has a large handle that extends and wheels so you can pull it around and don't need to carry it.

Works well for ski trips too!

I have a helmet bag that goes inside a giant North Face basecamp duffel along with my suit, HANS, cool shirt, gloves, shoes, etc along with the rest of my clothes for the weekend. Bonus, in winter is doubles as my ski gear bag. It is also a dry bag - so it goes on the back of the bike for moto camping. It's got backpack straps on it too so you can hump your gear along even with both hands full of other stuff.

Don't forget to pack clothes hangers and some paracord to put the suit and stuff on to hang dry after soaking them with sweat (or rinsing them out with a hose).

I've got a really nice OMP bag that carries suits, helmets, gloves, HANS and shoes for both me and my codriver. It has wheels and a handle that pulls out. Got it free with Targa Newfoundland registration.

But basically, it's a duffel bag.

I use a boat bag. Pretty much a water proof duffel

I'm thinking hockey bag is probably the way to go.

I use a big North Face mountaineering duffle. Totally weatherproof, tough as hell, and can be carried as a backpack or bag. Holds 2 helmets, my suit, HANS, shoes, coolshirt, and other stuff.

Called the "Base Camp" Duffle and it comes in several sizes. I have the "Large" size. The XL size is REALLY big. Also comes in several colors.

Ogio makes some nice stuff oriented more towards motocross gear. Intended for a helmet etc. Spendy, buy durable. I've debating getting sparco's helmet bag which has a usb powered fan in it, and room for a hans.

You guys are fancy. I just leave that stuff in the back seat of the truck. Haven't forgotten anything yet. Except socks occasionally.

I think the pelican case is pretty overkill for my use, but I like the idea.

I never thought of a helmet bag inside a duffel bag. That way I can grab it for go-karting without having to find something else to carry it in, but otherwise it's contained with all my other gear.

I recently bought a gear bag from a moto shop for my DH racing gear. Piling everything into the van didn't annoy me too much when I was living at my house, but now that I'm in a third floor apartment, I want to minimize the number of loading and unloading trips. It's a Ogio Trucker 8800 and has plenty of room for all of my gear plus it has wheels and an extending handle like a carry-on bag.
