Oh, that's cool - that is really one to look in to then - not sure why I've more or less dismissed Continentals as a "grippy" tire.

205's on the wheels I have now will rub, almost surely. It's an ET10, and the 195's used to rub a bit, even with negative camber (I think if I maxed out it'd be ok, but, car does better around 2...). I rolled and slightly pulled the fenders, and no issues in quite a while.
Ok, Conti's are 205s so out for now.
Probably sportcomp 2s at this point.
Nobody with hankook knowledge, eh? Best I can tell, they were decent about 10 years ago....
Going to vote re71R's on the answer. They seem to hold up well on lighter cars.

RE71R are the best for slalom and street combined but will definitely wear fairly quickly - might make sense for a non daily driver. Otherwise the Michelin PSS is almost as good and will last longer.
Have the G force Comp-2 on the BMW and they are also very good though a hair short of the PSS.

RS4's are great they are very similar to Star Specs, they will last a lot longer than the RE71s etc. I have PSS on my daily and they are a great tire dry or wet but my experience with them at autocross is if they get overheated they start tearing through them pretty quickly.
The guys in the supermiata series are running the maxxisVR-1s as rain tires and have great things to say about them. I had the RC-1s on my old miata and while they are slower than RE71s and Rival-S's they last a lot longer. However those are not dual purpose tires at all
