LeMons???
Yep, the team built it for Lemons, started with a ranchero and when it was deemed beyond repair they found a free E30. Knowing that the Lemons judges frown on E30s they cut up the ranchero and grafted it to the E30,
The result is amusing, if not amazing. I'd DD that thing :)

They're seen as 'ringers', from what I gather. Along with our beloved Miata. One of the things that disinterests me from Lemons is that there seems to be a stigma against anyone who shows up looking to go fast, rather than just dress up in silly outfits and glue crap to their cars.

Its less about being ringers than most of them are full of cheatonium. They have let plenty of miatas and E30s through with no penalty laps but they are scruitinzed heavily because so many people try to cheat them up a bit much.
And honestly for awhile everyone was showing up with them and Lemons is interested in showcasing the bizzare. I'd like to think GRM is somewhat that way too. There will always be the top cars that do well in these events but some of the appeal (at least for some of us) are the oddballs and wierdos. I had the opportunity to build a killer 5.0 fox body for Lemons money but sold it because, well, Im just weird like that. I've always said I'd rather fail spectacularly in an oddball car than win in a common one. That's not a criticism of people who want to win, but you are correct, Lemons is less about being the fastest than it is about having fun and racing cars that have no right being raced.
I wasn't criticizing Lemons' objectives either, dressing up in silly outfits and gluing crap to your car looks like it would be a whole lot of fun. I just feel like if I am going to spend the money on racing gear, and risk my safety in the drivers seat, I want to have at least as much fun on the track as I do in the paddock :).
