We are heading to HyperFest this weekend as I haven't been to a race track in almost a year and it's the wifes treat for fathers day. We also have a 4 month old and she's worried about protecting the little ears and curious if any of you GRMers have a cheap and easy solution. My parents had me at the 12 hours of sebring at just 3 months old so I feel I need to start her off early too.

Child sized shooting muffs. Very soft and very little "clamping force" especially on a head that small.

Stay away from inserting anything in the ears. Their Eustachian tubes are vulnerable to infection as it is, more so when pushing bacteria in toward the middle ear.

yeah my kid did fine with small sized shooting muffs. You can find them at most any sporting goods / hunting type store.

Get a set of $2 ear muff type protectors from HF.

The sound is not bad at club racing except up close in the paddock. I don't expect you will need them but when someone scares the hell out of him revving up - you can plop them on his head to distract him from crying.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to search for a HF but I know there are a million sporting good stores around.

Between yesterday and today I hit up Home-Depot, the Post Exchange (new one is opening so things were sparse), a Base Exchange, Lowes, Dicks, Sports Authority, Modell's, and two Wal-Marts and not one of them had children's ear muffs. I got perplexed looks from most employees when asking the question too.

Luckily it wasn't too loud except for the dee dah dees in the car show area revving there cars to the moon for fun.

You'll need to log in to post.
