I nearly 5-2 money-shifted an early 2000s Kia hatch (it seemed that you had to put some rightward pressure on the shifter to get 4th instead of 2nd) and I nearly 3-2 money-shifted my Samurai (just had a brainfart and thought I was in 1st for some reason. At high revs in 3rd, the synchros said "no problem!" I punched the clutch back in quick enough to prevent damage.)

Yes I almost did the 5-2 on my Fit exiting the freeway quite a few years ago (brain fart also) but kicked that clutch in real fast as soon as I felt the jerk Synchros no care.
the BMW "money shift" is the same problem that causes the fan to grenade and take out the hood and radiator. Bad engine and trans mounts. Replace them when they get soggy and you need never worry about the cooling fan hitting the shroud or the shift pattern not being where it is supposed to be

It definitely can happen and no there's nothing preventing you from doing it. 5th to 2nd accidentally when turning hard right was the situation I witnessed (from afar).
On my Mustang and my old WRX I would of had to of slammed it HARD into 2nd for it to go in. I would have to use significant strength. That's what I mean. Like they wont go in on those two cars i've owned. It's like they have some kind of a safety mechanism to prevent it.
I've witnessed and E36 M3 money shift on the freeway, dude did not look pleased.

Oh, no way in hell I'd ever put one of those ins. co. boxes on my car. That being said, as the technology progresses I would certainly not be shocked when and if the day comes that cars will report your driving habits to the manufacturer, ins. co., and law enforcement.
I'd be screwed with one of those things. I need to use full throttle at least 10 times a day, for 20-30 seconds at a time or more, just to make it up hills. We also have a very short off ramp, which requires very heavy braking, high G cornering, or a combination of both.
