I don't have any science to back it up, but I think EV microcars just seem to make a lot of sense.
Ignoring the (probably high) price, I'd love something like this to drive downtown to get lunch or somethine.
I see where they took some of their design cues.
Seriously, though - a microcar seems to lend itself well to being an EV. And, this one is under $20k.
That's pretty much all EVs were for years. The market didn't care until there were options that could be real cars.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
I actually saw one of those for sale near me. I'll admit it - it was tempting.
One of the Youtube EV channels did a test drive of a Microlino in Germany.
Europe has various classes of "less-than-car" vehicles. The Microlino is a "L7E" (Heavy Quadricycle) with power/ weight/ speed limited to 15kW/ 450kg/ 90kph=56mph. The polite understatement from the Microlino FAQ page:
Is the Microlino approved in the USA?
Due to a different legal situation in the USA, the Microlino US version will have to undergo some design changes.

There's been many times after a few whiskeys that I've said "You know that is a production four wheeled car."

Just like the original Isetta they can knock a wheel off the back and then safety standards don't really matter anymore.
