I might be going a bit over the edge here, but I want to use the factory evap stuff on my 6.0 swap into my 67 Camaro. I've got the purge setup figured, the tank pressure sensor is in, and the vent solenoid is easy, too. However, the van canister is huge, and sits vertically. I would prefer something smaller, and horizontal, and probably GM.

Has anybody done or read about what might be a proper donor for such a thing? I will eventually just go climb under Cavaliers and Malibus and such in the wrecking yard, but its cold and snowy just now...

I don't recall ever seeing a horizontal charcoal canister...

IIRC the Saturn ION, Chevy Cobalt had horizontal canisters. All you need is a fitting from the tank, one to the purge, and one to fresh air with a filter of some kind. The canister is just a box of activated charcoal so I bet you could even use one from Hyundai/Kia which are all horizontal. The Santa Fe canisters are extremely easy to get to. They are mounted right in the center of the vehicle. I'll see if I have any laying around at work tomorrow.

The charcoal canister in my 914 is horizontal, small, under the hood on top of the gas tank. The one on the bug was vertical, inside the passenger side rear fender as I recall

I was going to say what about mounting ot up in a fender behind the fender liner. This is often space that is overlooked. I would not put electronics in there but it is perfect for this kind of thing.

The canister in my 03 GMC 1500 if I remember is kind of long and a bit squat but is overall probably to big.
