Trade a BMW wagon for an ACR? Absolutely!
Go for it. Trade straight up if you have to. You’ll kick yourself for another decade if you don’t buy it back basically for $2500.

Pretty much how im leaning. And, im already goung to lose money on the bmw, but the emotional win of getting my old car back may help lessen it.
Still letting it roll around in my head more before pulling the trigger. But, its probably going to happen .
As for the thing of it not being the same thing as it was, i wouldnt worry much. You already saved it from the junkyard once and brought it back. Since you already did it one, you will have a easier time getting it how you want it.
As someone that let y'all talk me into selling a perfectly good car and buying a broken one I can say, with experience and gusto
DO IT!
Truthfully though I didn't need much encouragement....
The pile continues to grow.
Boot on his end is out.
Rebuilt srt4 bottom end
3 transmissions
3 sets wheels and tires, aforementioned exhausts
Euro tails and mirrors
Injectors, wiring harnesses, multiple radiators, suspension rebuild kit (poly bushings) extra springs, extra konis, extra intakes, iceman, adjustable cam gears, etc.
Im going to physically lay eyes on it all sunday and show him the bmw

This. Go in for cash. Its a ratty looking older car with a blown engine. He probably just wants it out of the way and 500$ would probably do a fine job of that. Then sell the bimmer for full price. From what ive seen, maybe its a florida thing, but it seems like about any bimmer wagon goes for a premium. Especially one in good condition. I think the bimmer is worth far more than the non running acr.

Quoted for Truth.
The car really only has extra value to YOU, because of the emotional connection. To the rest of the general public (read any other potential buyer) it's a pile of parts, and Non-runner.
While I agree that the BMW is theoretically worth far more than the Neon, I haven't gotten a single bite on the car in the two months I've been trying to sell it. If one of y'all want it for $2,500 come get it. The parts pile with the Neon can realistically be sold off for about $800 in recoup for the stuff I won't be using. The export stuff and some of the more we're parts bring pretty good money in the neon world. Don't ask me why but they do.
Damn, you guys are savage! Not in a bad way, though.
i say if it takes Duster to Bonertown, then do the deal you can live with. But first, put the wagon on BaT.
Well, crap.
He just threw in a 99 Neon RT as well. And supposedly some Craigslist guy is coming to look at the BMW tonight to lowball the hell out of me. I may actually have a dilemma on my hands now...
My dad always said to flip a coin. But not to decide what to do - rather, judge your emotional reaction when you see what the coin would have you do.
If heads means you make the trade and it comes up tails, will you be bummed or happy? That will tell you what you want
for me, when I’m considering something online (part or car or bike or ??) I judge my reaction to the imagined scenario of coming back to find it has been updated to say sold.

This was enlightening. It came up on the cash side, and i was disappointed.
My wife told me to go for the neons as well. I think my mind is made up.

Now you're talking. Best of luck with your new build thread.
This thread makes me wonder if we've ever actually done the talk me down part.
I've been on here for years and have only seen the enable.
E: 11 years it turns out, damn

Honestly the r/t is what pushed me over the edge . I was still debating until then.
General plan at the moment is to use the 2.4 swap stuff in the r/t, and driver it, while doing a full bare shell day 2 resto of the acr.
Why?
BECAUSE I CAN!!!!
