So while I have the engine out of the race car I figure I should clean and paint the bay.

Tempted to use an engine block paint.

Thoughts.

For sheer durability I'd go with bedliner instead, if looks don't matter.

It should look tidy but resistant to chemicals is important.

Tractor paint from Tractor supply. Easy to apply and very durable.

It comes in many more colors than just John Deere green.

^This is what I was gonna suggest next. Probably the 3rd most durable option behind Bedliner, and then Hammerite & similar, and looks a lot like engine block paint but won't flake off if you don't heat-cure it right.

I recognise a Fiat 124 engine bay anywhere... one of the few areas of the 124 that doesn't rust

Bohaaaa

I'll look around for products this weekend. I need to finish off the exhaust upgrades then I can pull the spare block and head out.

Will time a few hours to prep and cover everything.

Tractor paint works great, BUT! make sure to use the enamel hardener as well. It seems a bit expensive at $13 per pint, but the paint will dry WAY faster, get MUCH harder, and be MUCH more chemical resistant.

I agree with this actually.

Bedliner is an actually fantastic choice and i've seen it done before.
