Have a late series 22re from my '85 celica going up for sale. I'm wondering what the going rate is on these. It's in running condition. No leaks. No overheating or anything like that. Has about 190k on it, but the head has been replaced at some point (along with timing set). What's going rate in your neck of the woods, AND, NO, Craigslist is NOT the way to find credible fair market value. The idiots of Craigslist multiply and I see "FMV" vary from $200 all the way to $1,000 for a runner from junked out pick up.
FMV for a 30 year old, 90 hp, 200,000 mile motor? I'm sure that to the right enthusiast who is trying to keep his ride stock that it'd be $800 or more. But to the majority of 22re buyers (woods truck off-roaders), $200 is probably right.
Just not a lot of demand for such a thing.
I have an RE for sale, mines got 14k original miles (I personally put all of em on), a crane cam and a trd header, I'm asking $1700 (pretty firm) for all of it. They're not real comparable due to milage but I hope that gives you an idea.

22re's aren't that rare.
They are getting thin on the ground, remember the last year was 95.5, and one that hasn't been neglected because they "never die" is very hard to find in my experience.
My experience has been finding a running RE changes the price quite a bit. I'm seeing 800 bones for a runner with about 150,000mi. Thanks for letting me know I'm not nuts. And yes. These are getting harder to find.
I'd think somewhere between 500 to 1000 depending on what's included, good luck finding one not beat to hell. They go forever though, mine has about 265k on it and keeps on trucking.
I'd say $400-800 for a complete pan to intake 22RE. It's injected right? Never seen one for sale with less than 200,000 on it.
It's the late series. Injected. Comes with a brand new radiator, exedy clutch and flywheel, and throwout bearing and rear main seal.

My last experience is that you could buy a rebuilt long block for like $800.... but my info is dated.
