In summary:
"A group of guys threw a bunch of money at a Prius to make it pointlessly gaudy. They did nothing to actually improve the performance of the car."
"Why waste money on a Celica when you can waste it on a Prius?"
When I first saw this thread, I was really hoping someone had done something to hot-rod a Prius. I would be really interested in the results if someone race-prepped a Prius.
Do any of us have respect for a "show only" car anyway?
It doesn't matter what they spend that much time and money on, it's still a waste. Imagine how many used wheels and tires we could by with $184K...
with that elecric load from the steario, how much milage does it loose
which one of those screens had the Speedo?

You beat me to it. Boy, is that ugly.
The goal ... was to give the viewer a great show and, second, to show that a Toyota isn't a boring and anonymous car," he told us by e-mail. Looks like he's fallen halfway short of his goal then, only having removed the anonymous part. Stock drivetrain, lots of extra dead weight, and looks like it would flip over if you took it around an autocross course. Get a Prius to run even a 13 second quarter mile while keeping the hybrid system intact and you might get my attention.

What does it take for a regular FWD to pull a 13sec. 1/4, letalone a hybrid?
Not to mention the trouble they had opeing the door
It's no different than any wack, over-the-top SEMA build.
Impressive amount of work, unimpressive result.
I actually like the proportions of the stock Prius--especially w/ some tasteful 17's.
This is very disproportionate and just plain gaudy.
I was kinda holding out hope that some one had taken a Prius and converted it to RWD and put in a big American V-8 in it.
Hmm LSX Prius.... That would piss some tree huggers off...

Possibly not--w/ those aerodynamics and stock gearing, the thing would probably get 33-35mpg.
<--I'm a treehugger and I approve of this swap.

Fine, a carbed 572 with super low drag gears
When I see cars like this $184k prius I just have to wonder how much more awesome a new Z06 and about 400 trackdays would've been with that money. Or maybe an Audi R8 + crazy turbo kit. Or any number of awesome things that almost 200k buys.

Nothing says "screw you, hippy" like a cummins turbo diesel. I'm just sayin. 4:11 gears, DUALLIE.
