Good luck. It was 15+ years ago but Des Moines was like Mongolia as far as motorsports were concerned.
There's a strong SCCA autocross group there that I'm a member of. I'll post this thread on the DMVR SCCA Facebook group. Unfortunately, I'm 2 hrs out.
We have Newton as a track. It's not that bad. :P

The actual town is about 45 minutes northwest of des moines. If you have time on your drive and that is a conceivable detour, please do.

I just checked the route, it's not too far off the beaten path, so I could definitely stop there on my way back from dropping my load.

Hey if you want me to look at that today, I can. Otherwise, I'll be out of the area in the next couple hours.
From the pictures alone I can assume it isn't a clean car, but for 4500 you might not care that much. o2 sensor wiring is suspect hanging across engine. I see the sound deadening is chewed on via mice i presume. Missing a chrome strip across the grille, and it looks like the lower grille is not properly installed in the bumper making me think its either been curbed, and doesn't fit well, or is a aftermarket bumper indicating body work, and doesn't fit well. Front tire looks worn out too.
Lots of easy fixes, makes you wonder what kind of hack was working on it. did the previous owner care at all...I'd say no. What else is half assed? maintenance?

Pretty much what I was told, plus a few other things. Car is quite the piece of work.
