I just read a story in the NE Ohio SCCA region newsletter about a group that tried to build an F-Mod car in the parking lot at the Nationals. Unfortunately they had problems with the engine that could not be resolved. I thought you might be interested in this.
What is an F-Mod car? I know what a AM, BM, kinda CM, DM, and EM are. Especially the last two since both have been built.

Cheap pint sized fun no matter what.
Fixed it for you.
I'd love to see the story of the parking lot build. Are there pics or a thread somewhere?

Seems like a hard car to do a parking lot build for....
No build thread, but a couple of live videos were shot on Facebook on the Solo Matters page. They built the car and Heyward Wagner was going to drive it.
Unfortunately, they got it together and they could NOT get the little bugger to run right. kept dying almost immediately i believe.. regardless it had no chance of getting from grid position to the start line, let alone actually finishing a run.
We saw it and, yeah, they tried.

My friend Scott, a former F/Mod Formula 500 driver and current K/Mod shifter kart driver, was following the build and lamented that in a couple days they built a nicer F/Mod (excepting the whole "doesn't run" part) than he did in several years of refining and engineering.
In reply to NickD :
I think I bought Scotts F500.

Awesome story! Jeff is a great guy. He used to let me co-drive the Stihl Mk7, and helped me to get my own FMod car sorted out.

Yep thats the one, drove down from northern ontario.
Turned out my fall damaged neck couldn't handle the nasty ride the hockey puck suspension gives on frost heaved lots up here.
Only ran a couple events and sold it to a quebec'r,still there as far as I know.
Fast and fun other the the 2 week headache after an event.

I managed to dig up an old Facebook photo of the first autocross he ever brought it to. I believe this was actually his second F500 he had owned. I was between cars and was there spectating (it would be a few more years before I went to my first autocross) and had never seen a Formula 500. Sometime after this, he and a friend went nuts with FEA and cut a ton of weight out the car and took advantage of all sorts of gray areas in the rule book and built it into a pretty serious machine and then went to Nationals with it. I never got to see it in that stage. By the time I started running with them, he had moved on to running a CRG Road Rebel kart.

Thats the nationals winning F500 he bought,it was sitting beside mine when I went and picked it up.
