Guy, I do WANT this car. I can come up with the money. But I don't have a place to put the thing. My shop is full of damnable 626s and my garage space has the FD. I could park it outside through the winter, but would hate to...Though it may come to that because that's what the current owner is going to do anyways.
It's hard to sell a sports car going into winter. And if I go low on my FD price to move it, then in effect, I'm not really getting the good deal on the MR2 any more.
If you dont want the FD, why not park that outside over the winter? Is the FD in great shape, too? (Cant check your profile for some reason on this stupid old phone)

Another option, what about a storage unit? Thats what I ended up doing when my own inner mazda freak forced me to get a 323 I didnt have space for. You could use the storage place for a car over the winter, then unload the FD in spring to free up the space. Mine is way bigger than I need for a 323 and allows me to store other crap, too, and will end up costing $500 for the whole salt season. Plus it frees up a lot of storage space in the garage previously occupied by holiday decorations and winter tires and stuff.

If you have a car cover, having a car sit outside during the winter won't kill it. Is it ideal? No. Driving on salted roads is more of what kills an older car.
Yeah, the FD isn't an "outside car" either. It's not perfect but I can't park it outside through the winter.

Is the FD a turbo? How much? Where?
In reply to JamesMcD:
That is beautiful. All I can say.

$12k, STL, MO area. They all have the same twin turbo motor from the factory.

I thought there were some that were NA? Wait, I think I'm mixing them up with the 2nd gen MR2.

Its funny, my FRS sits outside all winter and the MGB GT , which is pretty much worthless, sits in the garage. Its the roads that kill the cars in winter, not the snow-pile on top. Just don't park on dirt.
If I wanted that car, and I had a place to park it such that I could ignore it for the duration, I would grab it in a heartbeat.

So is a factory tuned MR2 a TuRD Merde?
Also nice price for the FD! Somebody should snap that up

For that price that's a good deal overall. Rebuilt engine and trans. How many miles on the chassis?
I feel like enabling myself into your FD, but I know my wife won't go for it.
Stop posting and go buy that thing

Yeah... I'll have none of that. The Spitfire is in the garage right now, but around Thanksgiving or so it'll probably go into the back yard under a cover for the Winter. The plan is to swap it for the GT6 in the temp garage, but it spent last winter under a cover outside and started right up come spring. I hate scraping snow off the daily driver.
So... IMHO... if you want the MR2, buy it. The FD will sell when it sells. The MR2 is a $2500 car. It can live outside for awhile. A bit of snow won't kill it.

I didn't need to know that your FD was still for sale...
I messaged SWMBO about it and she tells me that a new kitchen is more important right now.
SWMBO would kill me if I bought a fun car without AC and PS.
I'll buy that 2 today. Tell me where it is..... Now!

I'll keep you in mind in case I can't make it work.
OK, I just made the deal! $2,500. I'll post more pics when I pick it up next week.
Here's a rear pic in the meantime.
OK, I got it home a couple days ago.
I need to start a spruce-up thread...
