MKIV GTI with Jetta front-end was kind of popular back in the day.  

Saab 9-2x and Subaru Impreza/WRX were also different beaks on the same chassis.  I think the  9-2x was  better looking.

I've thought an 80's El Camino with a Buick GN front end (drivetrain) could be a fun build.

About 10-15 years ago there was a guy in town with a Monaro conversion on his nuGTO.

There was a 300c wagon for sale near me a while ago. 

Bit of an oddball here, with a short backstory, involving an old Opel Ascona A with Manta front swap which was once a popular conversion.

For reference, the Ascona A had a Nova-esque face which is actually pretty damn cool:

But many people couldn't resist the more swoopy looks of the Manta and did the conversion --- back in 2018 when I was actively looking for an R53 MINI scouring allover CL, I stumbled onto a 1972 Ascona A that had it done up and it was only 15 minutes from my house so of course I had to go check it out because the desire was strong!

Saved the actual pic from the ad. Inspection and test drive scared me away because it was a janky mess, see the shaved door handles? It had pop locks installed along with other stuff I didn't like plus it felt super sketch squirrelly  on the drive and would've required much work to get it proper. Lowest the seller would take was $3,500 so I walked, if I had adequate workspace it would've been a grand project car, but I don't so I didn't.

I know other manufacturers do this also, but GM has a bunch. Pic a chassic and generally the other models on that chassis will fit. 4th gen fbody. 3rd gen fbody. Then when you go back to older stuff its even more.

Especially since, IIRC, he kept the Ferrari engine, which I can't imagine was very happy lugging around that Wagoneer.

320Hp/318tq Net ratings in the 3 carb street version of that 4.4. I bet it pushed the Jeep around pretty smartly.

I just had a 4 liter 3 carb Columbo on the engine dyno that did 295hp and 300ft/lb. It had a nice torque curve. These aren't the peaky motors everyone thinks they are.

Ranger, Explorer and Bronco 2 front ends exchange within generations.

I had a VR6 swapped 4 door golf with a jetta front.
