Didn't I see racer X in that one? Niiiice!
Nice rendering but that design will not work with legal height headlamps. They are maybe 16" to ground but have to be 22" or more. The difference will kill your design. Sorry. This is exactly why I suggested some more design parameters be included on the templates. In reply to NXXN:

"More to come indeed. Dave Smith"
I am betting you are way ahead of me on this but I hope there is a "roller" going to be available. I probably won't like your eventual body (maybe I will be wrong on this) but I sure am interested in the chassis. I've been working for the last year on a 2.5L. Subaru powered roadster, designed on a Mendeola/VW chassis (rear engine). I would drop that in a New York minute for a feasible, ready for engine&trans mid-engine platform from your company!
HOLY #@$%&*!!!! THAT is a really sweet looking car! It's like a Viper got it on with a lotus 211.
I'm not a judge so I get to say so. The editorial staff at GRM has done an exceptional job with helping gather the last judges and has also been very supportive and flexible on this adventure. What a great magazine run by REAL car guys instead of ad salesmen! Cant wait each day to find out what is new.

Really cool dramatic perspective NXXN, I like the technique too. Great work.
I wish more ID guys post there designs, I will be posting mine soon. I see plenty of people talking like they know their stuff, but I haven't seen them post a sketch, or even a chicken scratch

For the guys that plan on running this as a strict track car, they could run it just like that even without the fog lamps.
Looks great!!! Not sure about the vertical pieces above the intakes, but that is just me. Love the intake design (all of them, brake, side and headrest ones).

That design is really good!! love the Mustang-like foglamps and the humps air intakes! keep it up!

It's OK Joe. I still love you. :)
Hey guys. My name is Marc and came across this by pure luck. Really looking forward to starting on this and witnessing all the work that comes along from everyone. Nice stuff so far,
A few questions:
will the chassis be available in CAD format, even though it is still being developed? I guesstimated the proportions based on the provided 3 qtr drawing below. I realize this is getting a bit nitty gritty on details, but it would be nice to begin with an accurate foundation to assure a positive body fit in the end, as seansverige pointed out earlier.
I assumed the radiator was indicated in the side view, but wasn't sure if it is indeed a radiator (?)
current chassis dimensions as built are 36"h, 97"l, and 46"w. The width seems pretty tight, so I was wondering if Dave from Factory Five could confirm the accuracy of this. Thanks! BTW Dave, this is a dream project. Thanks for the opportunity!
Please forgive the engine proportions and placement, as it is far from accurate. And sorry if I had missed previous discussions regarding these questions. There is a lot of info to wade through. Thanks.
Two of my last three "summer" cars were roadsters with no tops ( Westfield 11 and Hayabusa powered Se7en). The other was a convertible ( TVR Tasmin). And which one did I drive the most? The TVR . It was, by far, the most boring of the 3 but having a top when needed, not only extended the short driving season up here north of the border, but allowed me to take the car out when there was a forecasted "chance" of rain. So to get the most use out a roadster design, I strongly believe it must have some type of removeable roof and doors, no matter how rudamentory. (The Se7en received doors with fixed side glass over the winter and the convertibletop is my next project)
My submission is in, and I know that the general design is decent, but my artistry skills are lacking compared to the examples I've seen here.
Sixten - they have stated that they won't release the CAD info. As its a concept contest, it isn't really needed.
For reference the rollbar height on the side view provided with the 95" wheelbase scales to ~44.5" off the ground, for a chassis height of ~40". Seems reasonable as the rollbar in my miata is ~43" off the ground.
There was some discussion earlier about the driver sitting too high but I believe the clip art used for the driver is just out of scale.

I think the doner-daoner(?)- car is supposed to be 2002- 2007 Impreza/WRX's.

Dude, you are talented as @#$%!

And that 'dude' is only 20. How 'bout that!
Comes up with a design that some people may have waited 40 years to drive. A-MA-ZING!
so far xabiers is my favorite, it reminds me of the saleen s5s raptor and the hennessey venom gt. ive got a lot of conceptual ideas that im trying to incorporate but its not coming out right maybe a better artist can put it to paper. or we could all start adding to a master idea list. im thinking curvy wheel well humps like a 65 cobra, angry headlights like a new charger or evo with a ferrari 458 shape audi leds and bmw halos in the head lights, a front grill opening like the cobra or evo for cooling with integrated brake duct cooling vents either heat extractors in the hood like a pontiac firehawk or a big opening like the gtm or gt40s, heck i kicked around the idea of incorporating the WRX Sti parts like the ram air hood scoop intercooler vent and the BIG spoiler, my favorite spoiler shape to use would be the voerstinner bmw m3 lip curved integratted trunk spoiler, or the moving venom gt spoiler, large side gill opening like the c6 vette to get front brake heat out, side exit exhaust or centered rear like a cts-v coupe, c5 z06 rear brake duct vents, a front air dam/splitter, rear air diffuser, ram air ducts that feed the engine on the sides near the front and top of the wheel well humps like a boxster spider, ZR1 style wheels, speedster humps behind the headrest like a boxster spyder if its a droptop only, i would prefer a targa design though, and maybe a lil perana Z-one influence, i even thought of making it look a lil like the superformance grand sport vette kits since there is already and existing market and it would make for great kit car competition, esp since both companys already make cobra kits. i also thought about incorporating ideas like using other junk yard parts like pontiac solstice tail lights or subie headlights, random easy/cheap parts to find. my only question for dave is, will it be turbo or na?
1/4 million dollar shapes yes :)
is it too much to ask, to want it all lol
im just trying to inspire creativity is all :)
You're talking my language sstolen, I'm picking up what you're laying down
Give me a day to draw that up. when is the cut off time for this weeks submissions?
There is no reason why FFR can't mold a 1/4 million dollar car for under 10 grand. Ferrari's cost 1/4 million not because of the shape of their body, it's because the engine, trans, and interior are all hand built in Italy.
Seeing the craftsmanship of the cars FFR has developed, they have the talent and skills to make this car look good.
