He's not the winner yet, k? We still don't know the judges and this thing is still wide open for another couple of months. I'm not knocking anyone's design. They're all much better than anything I could do. I'm a street driver, so I'm looking at designs from that aspect. Others want track or rally, so they have different ideas for a final product. It's all good, if you ask me.

My spidy senses tell me that "modular" is going to be a key word with this concept. I honestly haven't been this excited for a new product in quite some time. And to think that the community has a hand in it makes it even better.

Don't give in yet, its alright but it is not my favorite. I prefer the low sleek racer that NXXN drew. Plus we have over 2 months of contest left and I bet a lot of killer designs. I like cars more like a lotus 211 then the elise and I think its much closer to the design goals. Keep them coming guys.

Nice stuff so far, A few questions: - will the chassis be available in CAD format, even though it is still being developed? I guesstimated the proportions based on the provided 3 qtr drawing below. I realize this is getting a bit nitty gritty on details, but it would be nice to begin with an accurate foundation to assure a positive body fit in the end, as seansverige pointed out earlier. - I assumed the radiator was indicated in the side view, but wasn't sure if it is indeed a radiator (?) - current chassis dimensions as built are 36"h, 97"l, and 46"w. The width seems pretty tight, so I was wondering if Dave from Factory Five could confirm the accuracy of this. Thanks! BTW Dave, this is a dream project. Thanks for the opportunity! Please forgive the engine proportions and placement, as it is far from accurate. And sorry if I had missed previous discussions regarding these questions. There is a lot of info to wade through. Thanks.

It gives us a real world idea of how deep the rear end will need to be. Not as bad as some imagined!

Is it me or is the engine/tranny setup reversed?

Even before I had read your text, I saw the pictures and thought "that has Aston Martin ass, but charicaturized." Heh!

Looks that way to me.

In reply to dculberson:

It is reversed because it was an early model and has since been corrected. Still much to absorb. Mattgent- thanks for your feedback and measurements!

@xabier- nice start! I like the restraint and the upward gesture of the side intake, and how you have reflected that in the front side vent. The overall design is a bit derivative, however, and doesn't carry a particularly unique or exciting design element, in my opinion. But it is clean and elegant. For that, it is successful.

Hello, my name is Tune, industrial/product design, this is my first entry. Calling it the Factory 5 Falcon. Curious what the board thinks. Some great car minds / designers on the boards was really inspired to do this by your posts. thank you.

I like it in line drawings, but the rendering shows something I'm not wild about. The character line that defines the tops of the wheel wells is spot on. But the one that introduces a crease through the door looks odd to me. In much the same way that the Z4 looked better in photoshops with that funkyness removed, I think yours would as well. $.02

Tune. Very nice!!!

I do have a question though. I've noticed that some of these renderings (other entries as well) have a blurred effect applied to them. Is there any way to give us a rendering that is sharp?

In reply to freenrgy2: I´m working on a rendering like the one you mentioned but basically because that´s my style, I have always worked this way and I am used to it, I like doing it this way because details and the design is easily seen but these fast sketch/renderings can work well and are more expressive... I hope to upload it soon

@ DILYSI Dave & freenrgy2 : thanks for your insights, photoshop brush work can make or break the surface dynamics on a car. I will re-visit a sharper final render for the falcon.

My 2 pennys - I'm seeing a lot of noses that are larger than they need to be. Gracefull to be sure, but also mass and weight that aren't necessarily needed.

We're also seeing new contributors, which is very cool. Word must be getting out within the design community. After all, how many opportunities does one get to pen a relatively clean sheet design which could very well become something of an icon?

The line drawing is much better than the rendering, which looks heavy due to the low accent on the body section through the front fender. If you make the rear line crisp and play it against a higher major body highlight, it will be much better. I hope you don't mind my overlay...

If we're recycling Ford names, I vote for the Fusion over Falcon, cause this thing is gonna be an Atom smasher!

The level of artistry and graphical brilliance on display is amazing. I can design a heat exchanger but I'd flounder until the deadline before I created something as fluid and attractive as what I see here.

I never knew this car existed. But I've been coming to the conclusion this basic shape is about the only way the F5R 818 will look good.

I pretty much agree but there are 1000 different designs that can fit that shape. I just hope it's very light and small.

Hi, just found out about this contest. I'm really glad that FFR is doing this car. I'm going to do some of my own concepts, but I wanted to throw out some other ideas for people that I've seen that I thought were pretty cool.

Anyone see some of Racer X design concepts?
