I've taken to reading his posts in the spoken word style of William Shattner.
Uberod - I like that a lot. It's like lotus 7 meets Morgan Aero meets the League of Extraordinary Gentleman.
Also looks easy to manufacture and less expensive than the supercar variants. To get near the cost target this thing is going to be pretty minimalist.

That's it! The one guy is speaking Esperanto!

Thanks for the Kudos! There are some great designs in here. The main thing I'm looking forward to is having a turn-key weekend warrior for 15-20k that looks half-decent and has excellent build quality. The U.K. and Europe have tons of kit cars available. . we seem to have never gotten on that bandwagon over here--must be the EPA and DOT regs. . .
I agree that we shouldn't get bogged down in a bunch of technical details, but I have couple of questions that have a definate relevance to my design. Is the shape behind the rear wheels supposed to accomodate a trunk or is this the cars transaxle? This detail will definately impact my design. Also, the wheels have double circumferences. Is the inner one supposed to be the wheel or are we being offered two wheel sizes? Is there any leeway with the rather squared off roll bar? Thanks for any feedback on my questions.
@KA....what are you doing? Are these submissions or are you posting every doodle you've ever done? Which one of these is a submission for the contest, the green and yellow concepts above? Looks like you're posting your portfolio here and I don't know why.
^^^ What are you talking about Ive been waiting for a flying bicyle for like 10 years now after all its 2011, cmon,,,
Apologies if this question has already been posted/answered previously...
The pencil sketch below - how indicative of the 818 chassis is this? If it is an accurate rendering then will the roll-bar and supporting framework be constructed from tubular steel rather than the box-section steel depicted? Minor details I know, but I thought I'd ask all the same.
KA, Please understand that none of us can understand what you are saying. That being said, you obviously have talent, and are trying to approach the idea of designing your own car very seriously. I like the way you've used things out of nature to model after. Creative.
I have to believe that the sketch of the frame is just that... Just at a glance I see a major conflict between those transverse diagonal braces and the driver's/passenger's legs :) I suppose that cound account for the super-high seating position shown in the design templates... Maybe I'm just looking at it wrong...
Here's an early (low polygon count, non-detailed) images of an exo-skeletal concept for the 818:

I think this would be a fine time for a mod to step in and clean up some of these way-off topic posts. I know I'm getting tired of scrolling past KA's UFO encounter.
Me too! I mean enough already, its not funny anymore and freaking distracting and its really bringing down the seriousness of this contest.
On a lighter note, Hiryu you are in my head man! I wish I had your artistic talent, my entry with a body shape similar to your exotic look is on page 24. Your ability made it pop. I've been working on a smoother cleaned up image but my pencils can't touch your rendering, man I'd drive that! I'll be posting my update after I clean it up and smooth it out some more, and submit it.
Designers, don't forget there is no limit on the number of submissons so submit everything, then post it. I would like some feed back on mine but I guess there was no story behind it, so no response. I am a mechanic/fabricator by trade and I always think faster/safer, and have to tone down customers all the time. I heard of this and immediately thought track terror and thought it should look the part but still have that hang your arm out cool factor. Check out my sketch and give me some feed back, this is to anybody willing to do so.
I think folks should snap up Ka's artwork as quick as possible, because once he breaks on the scene, you aren't going to be able to afford it.
Here is my second entry for the design contest, the F5 Sports Roadster. It comes as both a Targa/Roadster and a closed Coupe. Both configurations are possible on the same body with a very simple removable targa panel, and the rear hatch area which is replaceable. I envision having a few options such as a flat or slatted hatch, the shown scoop version, and the plexiglass "window". Note also that the front splitter and side scoops on the "R" are larger, and one has a rear spoiler as well. I think the ability to customize bits of the body will be a huge draw to customers.
