Yes, Its a stunning dark blue 1986 Ford F250. Regular cab. 2WD. Rockin inline 6, 4 speed manual trans. Alpine cassette with seperate EQ (sounds like poo!)Camper shell painted to match. Dog Dish hub caps. And I of course am in love. It is shockingly straight and clean. Can I resist its siren song tomorrow?

4 cylinder 3/4 ton 2wd? sounds useless to me.. throw a 460 and the 4X4 stuff into it, and it starts to get more intriguing..

300ci 4.9 inline 6 Ford? Most fragile engine EVER!

You'll probably end up giving that delicate, high-winding truck to a guy that could use it (me)!

I understand completely. I am in love with a '78 F100 stick shift in black.

Yeah! Especially with the 4-speed behind it, that transmission is made out of glass!

Seriously you should buy this, if you don't tell us about it. ;-)

Right, I sorta want one of the 2.3 ones... I have evil turbocharging aspirations....

Engine should go in this Sunday which is when I start rebuilding the old to fit a turbo.

OK, I'll be that guy. The 300 straight six is an awesomely durable engine, but it had what, 150 or so horsepower in those days? Adequate in an F-150, but in a heavier F-250, you might just end up needing a calendar to time it in the quarter mile. Yeah, I know, torque, but still. Seems to me in an F-250 I'd want a 351 or larger.

That was a smokin 122hp and 255 ft pounds of torque...

Weaker than the efi 302 for '86...

Really can't see why you would get that engine in an F250? F100 grocery getter, maybe.

It's bigger than the chevy 6 you could get in 3/4 tons back then. I drove one of those with a manual and it was one of my favorite trucks ive ever driven. My father in law has a 1980 300/4spd truck and it seems pretty cool to me. It runs but it just sits.

Pretty face...I'd be interested to see what you think ugly means.

Just to give one dissenting opinion, I've always thought the only appeal of the 300 at that time was that the 302 was so weak and leaky, and the 351/400 was weak and terribly thirsty. Looked good by comparison.

Was exploring some old vehicles in a field after we finished a HVAC install on an old farm house. I was expecting a big block when I popped the hood of a F-700 railroad truck, still had the track wheels on. I about E36 M3 when there sat in the engine bay a 300 I6 w/ single barrel carb. Ho-lee crap.

Farmer had a chuckle over that.

It is not a new Diesel teknoracertruck. This is just a simple old TRUCK that happens to be very well preserved. Makes me smile, that's why I like it. Likely has a 3.73 or 4.10 so should pull some old Saabs around just fine. The shifter throws are V E R Y L O N G. I will try and get it bought again tomorrow.
