The sound of a money shift, because no matter the car, there's always a question about the source of any other sound good or bad. A money shift is constant, and that constant is you done berked up.

I've always been partial to Tubi Style exhausts. They are hugely expensive but that sound....

Older peterbuilt rowing through the gears pulling a load with open pipes and the Jake brake on.
The roar of the motor with that "frap" sound between shifts is just fantastic.
The folks had a 63 Jag 3.8 that will always be the perfect exhaust note for me. It was not entirely different from Dad's 68(?) Chevy work on truck. The Jag just reved higher.
This may be a little self serving, but I've always liked the sound of our red Datsun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uW8QPyohfk We used to have a great video of our red Datsun, that had close up on the burnout, but the video got lost to a computer crash.
Also our Studebaker makes a good noise too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5o6vlIwC-1E I guess I'm lucky that I like the cars that I get to work on regularly.
Also I love the sound of the atlas engines. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfUhg2_fxRY
In high school, a friend had a Mach 1 with a big cam, headers and some kind of cheap mufflers. At idle, it sounded like:
BlubBlub
five second pause
BlubBlub
five second pause
BlubBlub.
Man this is a tough question. I love Subie flat 4s with the unequal length headers and a decent exhaust. Coyote V8 sounds great. A 370z has a pretty unique exhaust note along with the R35 GTR that I do enjoy. The Z4M that runs in TUSCC sounds pretty bitchin as well. I love the mechanical noise through an intake on a Honda dual cam. One of my absolute favorites and this is odd but is a 4.2L Audi V8. Just secks to the ears. Volvo S60-R Inline 5 has a neat intake note. See I can't answer this question.

My answer to that is in the post above yours.
The 900 SPG has a lovely burble but my supercharged 91 Mustang LX had a rumble and crackle that would make your hair stand on end. I miss that.

That is completely the wrong 383.

Last gen AMG C63 at full song is a nasty nasty sound. 70's 911 turbo at full song is a close second...

According to Jeremy Clarkson sounds like "Thor gargling hammers". People seem to like it in person too.
For the pure feel of sound, nothing is quite like standing 50' from a top fuel dragster as it launches from the start line. After that a flat six at the track snapping through the SMG at full RPM then backing down through the gears coming into the next corner. Let's not get started on the smells at a track, nothing better than 2 stroke premix race fuel.
I got to drive a Daytona 21 tunnel boat years ago with a worked over two stroke Evinrude V8 hanging off the back of it. Still the greatest sounding engine I've ever heard. V8 rumble with two stroke pop. Bliss.
