I was reading through the article on Keith's Targa Miata again (and going over the website, again), and I really like the Martini style livery he did on the car. It got me to thinking about how I want to do my own racer, which will hopefully be at the Targa Newfoundland one of these years. Anyway, I thought of how there are so many fantastic racecar designs out there, and I wanted to see what everyone here felt are the best of the best. Of course, there is the Martini livery, but here are a few of my personal favorites:
Gulf Oil - This is probably my absolute favorite:

There is also the Alitalia that was on the Lancia Stratos racers/rally cars:

I also love the Boss 302 driven by Parnelli Jones. It is a simple paint scheme, but it is fantastic:

What are some of your favorites?
Tasty and satisfying-Jågermeister.

Camouflage in nearly any form.

Gulf is number 1. I also like Brumos Porsche.

I'm pretty sure I like this more for the car than the livery.

For modern cars I like the Krohn Racing colors I think because the color is a bit obnoxious and it stands out.

And I also like the flat black Speedsource RX-8's - again I might just like the exhaust note, but I like the color too.

You see the Gulf livery a lot because, well, it's easy to do! Martini, on the other hand, not so much. Alitalia would be fun to do. Before I decided to go with the Martini livery on the Targa car, I tried to design my own that would (hopefully) become iconic or at least have the potential if it had been applied to a bad-ass car. I failed miserably at that, but I don't regret going with the Martini look at all.
I've always loved the Porsche 956/962 in Rothmans livery. I still have a little Transformers version of the car that came from McDonalds or something back in the 80's that I painted up in this look.

The BASF M1 was pretty unforgettable.

JPS and Marlboro are unmistakable. I think the Marlboro one really works on a lot of cars.

A variation on the gulf scheme. I like the arrow. No need to ever ask for directions just keep going as fast as possible.
1 - JPS Lotus
2 - Mears yellow Pennzoil w/ red striping

Those are some gorgeous pictures!
I don't see the Porsche 'pink pig livery'... does everyone else think it's as gross as I do?

I love me some Champion Porsche.

the black and gold looks almost as good as the black and silver.
edit: i just noticed the silver and black Monte Carlo nose poking into the front of the frame..
