Oh wow, I've never seen that one before. Awesome.

Martini paint jobs can look SO good if they're matched to the shape of the car.

Adam Malley's "rising sun" Civic:

Dodge Ramchargers "Candymatic" stripes - another red and white variant. Best picture I could find was a model car.

Couldn't resist a couple shots of the New Hemi Racing drag car as well - the guys at GatorWraps came up with a pretty good color scheme on that one.

And where's a picture of the Jaguar that was always battling with the C5-R? Someone posted it around here somewhere...it had a weird green and a goofy pink-ish color lip around the grill opening.

No suit needed here. That is the most fugly-awesome-ness I have seen today. Good show!

At least the paint combo matches the design aesthetic imbued by the exterior designers.

RossD, it was an Aston Marting DBR9, and it is far from "goofy"

Dude, tell me about it. I searched for a half an hour for a roof shot with no luck.

Miss Budwieser. Simple, effective and distinct.

The same could be said for Strega.

and you can probably guess by now that I like the livery of the early cars better

the car that flipped the NASCAR world upside down in '67. beyond looking just flat awesome, there is a LOT of good old fashioned yankee engineering and rule book "interpreting" going on in this car.

So much greatness in this thread.

Gulf, Tyrell Elf, Alitalia Lancia...The John Player Miata is out of control. Those are all liveries that imprinted on me during childhood.

Somebody already mentioned JPS. Aside: IIRC, the only reason it went away was because Imperial Tobacco was pissed off that they'd sponsored the cars for so long, and the public still called them "Lotuses" instead of "John Player Specials". Sometimes I think the Corporate Overlords need to take "Anthropology 101" at night school..

I've always liked the Corvette IMSA GTP car:

And the early 70s Alpina BMWs. Simple, but follows the lines of the car:

Looks even better without the sponsor stix on the black part:

And Kevin's right...Martini is always cool, when you move the lines to fit the lines of the car:

BRG Astons with "Lipstick" are beyond sexxxy.

Would this color combo work on a cobra?

edit or maybe an LS powered miata with the aston body kit. Am I sick?
