Simple enough, we now have 4 major body styles to go through and more than a few trims so what is everyones favorite.

I will start. 1.8 L NA. Two reasons. Pop up headlights and lipstick tube door handles.

I just love the way those two things look and like the motivation of the 1.8 vs the 1.6.

1995 m edition.

Because merlot and those 15" bbs that i had sitting around for so many years just look so right. Hard top of course.

NB because they are the purdy and no pop up headlights.

NB1. Curvier than the NA, no tacked-on bits like the NB2, a better integrated whole than the NC. The ND isn't bad, but I'd rather see curves than sharp creases.

I'll go with the '90 B-Package. 1990 is where it all started, and the 1.6L is such a happy little engine, even if it isn't the most powerful. And the B-package came with a lot of good options, like the headrest speakers and cruise control. They look especially good in Mariner Blue but maybe I'm biased just because I happen to own one.

Also, I kinda like the NC Club Editions

I am partial to the NB Mazdaspeed, but I am biased since that is the model I own. I do like the NA door handles better, but not the headlights. The Mazdaspeed miata needs to have 15" wheels instead of the OEM 17" ones- They look way too big for my tastes.

Once I see the ND targa oragami version in person I may change my opinion.

Give me a completely base model 1.6 NA with only a Torsion. I don't care about the color but my wife would probably like it to be red.

For bolt-ons, just braces to help rigidity and a good suspension to suck up Wisconsin back roads. And maybe a bit of an exhaust note.

OK, I'll say it. The RF. But I don't know for sure yet. The first pic of the black one looks awesome though!

Mine of course! 97 with Montego Blue paint.

Of course an NC is so much nicer of an actual car I'd drive one of those if funds allowed.

NB, green with tan interior/top. To me, that's the most realized iteration of the intent - all the soul and looks of a little British convertible, but starts every morning.

My red NB1 that was started and driven yesterday for the first time this year (2 years ago we still had 2 feet of snow on the ground). With the touring and popular equipment package, it is more civilized than previous 92. So why do I still look at NAs for sale? I like the pure basic sports car look and feel of the NA. The feel and sound of the engine was fantastic. The ND attempted to seduce me when I sat in it but I resisted (too much modern technology).

What was the sticker option code for that one? LOL

Favourite one? The one parked in my garage (ND Launch Edition) - feels like an NA with the grunt it always needed.

Second favourite, the '95 M Edition.

They never made my fave on the production line

My DD is pretty close. 1990 non-airbagged Smurf Blue - the best dashboard, nicest column stalks, and a color that really suits the body. Don't forget the factory accessory airdam and rear skirt. I love those excellent little door handles. Then drop in a 4.1 Torsen and a tweaked 1.8 engine. Oh, and improve the suspension travel and add some bracing. Throw on a hardtop.

Very close second is the ND Club with some sway bars. I've bonded with it (drove it to work this morning, actually), but when I jump back into the NA it's still a revelation. It's so pure. Still, the ND has a higher SWMBO approval rating and that RF is pulling me pretty hard.

Of the NBs, I like the MSM once it's been fixed (Little Enchilada, 5-speed swap, 15" wheels). The NC didn't gel in stock form until the Club showed up late in the run, although one of our R&D cars has turned into a complete riot with the installation of a not-yet-available prototype supercharger. Finally, the engine has character.

Cap'n Downshift, 1A and 1B almost merged. I ALMOST got to take an ND Global Cup to Newfoundland last year on Mazda's dime. Mazda's lawyers freaked out 3 weeks before the race and nobody contacted me with the potential issues before it got cut down. Sad Keith.

Does the 1991 LeMans edition count? They only built 24 but it was still a production run. Cool Renown paint scheme and BBR turbo kit were all part of the package.

94R package. I realize the suspension is garbage, but I the tiny aero bits really do it for me. Which is why I have one parked in my driveway.

With the exception of the non-functional trunk lid spoiler, those aero bits were in the accessory catalog in 1990

IIRC, only 22 of the 24 Renoun cars were sold in full livery. Two had to be painted black to sell. Miata nerds love them, but people with money did not.

For me it's the BRG '01 SE. It combined all the best NB stuff with the retro nostalgia.

I'm torn between the NA and ND. The ND is technically the best car in all areas, but the NA is the best looking by far and is technically almost as good as the ND.
