So I had been racing on the ubiquitous star specs, and then switched to the Falken RT-615K's to save some $$$, given that the last tiddly bit of difference in grip arguably between the two would make any bit of difference given my and my teams skill set. But then I discovered these:

Feedback, thoughts on enduro running them on a 3k lb 390bhp AWD car in the 245-40-17 size? These could save enough in the course of a season to just about finance an extra event.
The Federal 595 RS-R has been reviewed more and more recently as being a viable alternative to the current RT615/StarSpec area.
That said, i haven't heard much about the Evo.
In reply to 92CelicaHalfTrac:
Unfortunately the RS-R's in my size are sub 200 treadwear, thus illegal for Chumpcar. Why Chump won't allow 180+ and let these and the Kumho's play is a long topic for a different forum.
I think the official number is actually 190 for Chumpcar and Lemons. Which is still WAY higher than the 140 for the RS-R.

I thought he linked to the 595.
Do you have links to those reviews?

There's about 27 different 595s from what i've seen.

Dozens and dozens of results in the googles.
We ran those in a 195/50/15 at Sebring this September. This is on a 79 RX-7 with a 5.0 T-5 weighing around 2500lbs sans driver.
We have not run new Star Specs so I can't directly compare. We also went from running 245/45/17 on 17X8's down to the 15's.
Overall we were very impressed especially for the price. We ran about 8 of the 14 hours a couple of which were in the rain. They probably have better than 1/2 tread life left and we are planning to run them in a second race. They were about $75 each locally whereas Star Specs were going to run about $125 each plus shipping.
If you are trying to win you might want to invest in Star Specs, if not I think these are fantastic and plan on running them on my street cars.
