My 944 cylinder head has been at the machine shop for two weeks. Today, I got a phone call stating that they could not perform the work requested because they didn't have the tools for "9mm valves" (whatever that means).
Regardless, I have to go pick it up tomorrow.
Anyone have a clue where I can take my cylinder head to have a valve job completed and valve guides installed?
I just want my car running again!

you're down here in medina.
i love Engine Works on 303 by the train tracks in valley city. he's one old guy with his old shop, has old cars in it, and is honest and a straight shooter.
medina motorsports is good for obscure and euro stuff but the guy is a bit of a dick. he did an awesome job on the head for my chevy 235 but that was years ago. my latest dealings with him drove me to engine works and i'll only go there from now on.
R&R Machine is I have all my work done. They're in Akron, expensive, and good. On the west side of Cleveland I'd recommend Weber Machine.
How heavy is a 944 head?
I ship heads all over the world... Find a shop KNOWN to do proper head work on 944 heads... and go there....

If you go 60ish over those tracks, you catch enough air that you go up the hill, clear the tracks, and land on the downslope.
So I've heard.

I ended up trying Medina Motorsports out, and I was pleasantly surprised.
I dropped the cylinder head and parts off last night at 6:30. The guy called me at 10:30 this morning and said it was ready. He even stayed late this evening so I could pick it up after work in order to install it this weekend.
He's a bit... eclectic. Perhaps somewhat eccentric... That said, I wouldn't call him a dick (this is only based on my dealings with him...) YMMV.

eclectic is a good word. he rivals billy mays(rest his coke driven soul) in the "holy crap this guy keeps just for men in business with that black beard" dept.
that said - they have always done great work for me, and i would probably take any euro stuff to him even though he ticked me off last time. it was nothing to do with his work, i think he was mad that i brought one rod to him to get resized instead of a big $ job.
those tracks hurt on 303. i forgot about them coming from the west once and failed to slow from 60 in the p71. got air is an understatement.
