Some guy's fresh set of autocross Hoosiers don't count toward the budget but my 4 quarts of Mobil 1 do? Mmmkay.
NOS being free also does not compute for me. How would you not count something that adds huge Hp to your performance?

I was just thinking about this because I thought I heard that fluids were free. Glad I included mine in the budget.
Alright guys. I'm appending the rules. It's not very reasonable to add something to the budget requirements at the last minute that some people didn't know about. Frankly, it wasn't specified in the rules, so that's on us. But now it's in there.
Here is the new ruling and it will not change before the challenge. Sorry if this thread caused any mass panic.
Fluids (including gasoline, oil and brake fluid) are not required to be included in the budget. Nitrous oxide refills do not count toward the budget (however, the cost of the equipment that comes along a nitrous setup does need to be added to the budget). Nominal amounts of grease (such as what’s required to pack bearings) do not need to be included in the budget.

I can't.
But last time I checked, NOS was not a fluid. It's a gas.
SVreX, you convinced us not to stir the pot too much a week before the event. Thanks for updating, Ed.
In the future, if the rules don't say something is exempt, it is not exempt.
If anybody is real passionate about this, let's discuss fluids at the Town Hall.
I really do like the Town Hall approach, it's less ranty and lynchy than the internet. Thank you guys for starting that. I look forward to seeing you all there.

We all know that Ed's Mustang would have aerodynamic elements made of dried grease if we allowed an unlimited amount.

hmmmm, what can i do with $47.95.
I'm so close to half budget that I was considering not changing my oil before the Challenge. Now to see if I have enough for an oil filter.

It's stored and injected into the manifold as a liquid.
In reply to SVreX:
I thought "dry" implied no fuel added by the nitrous system? In either setup it's liquid N2O until the nozzle/fogger. At which point it flashes into it's gaseous state.

You're correct. Dry means no extra fuel, wet means you get nitrous and fuel.
You're also correct that nitrous is liquid in the bottle because it is under high pressure.

I was in the exact same boat. Now I guess there are no excuses not to change the oil.

That too, all gases are fluids, but not all fluids are gases. Didn't feel like getting that pedantic from the get go.

I already printed the budget out, so its still in there. I built the engine from parts, so I needed to buy oil regardless.
