Hey,

My 89 Civic reeks of fuel.

Problem is worst during summer with the windows down. Anytime you pop the hood, it slams you in the nose. The rubber gasket at the trailing edge of the hood is OK.

No obvious leaks. Power is fine. CEL is off. Fuel mileage is fine. Car has 280k.

Do any of the Autoparts chains loan or rent out a sensor that will help trace this sort of problem? (The local Oreillys guys drew a blank when I asked.)

What say the GR diagnostic wizards?

TIA,

Rog

smoke/fog machine is best (what we use at the dealership)

run the fog down into one of the vent lines by the tank, then use a high powered flashlight to check everywhere for the smoke to excape
