Hi all,
I've started building my locost frame (in my basement with a homemade ventilator) and need to start sizing the engine bay for my choice of motor, which I haven't located.....
I've got no real experience with motorcycles so I haven't a clue in this avenue. All that I've checked on ebay are insanely expensive. Someone post a link to QCSA-Direct, has anyone dealt with them? They have a fair number of close by salvaged motorcycles with running engines.
Does anyone have any trusted links to similar wrecked vehicle sites? Obviously as long as the engine runs I don't care at all what shape the motorcycle is in. I've done a fair amount of google-fu, but most of the sites it takes me to seem shady at best.
Thanks!
You find a fellow enthusiast who's selling one.
Like me.
my local autotrader always has a huge wrecked section, which usually contains several pages of wrecked bikes. Id start there. Also, check u-pull-it type salvage yards.

Funny you should ask. I was just logging in to post an ad for a good bike engine that was pulled out of a Locost. I'll have it up in a few minutes.

Man, after fruitlessly searching for the last 2-3 weeks I should have asked here first.....
Thanks for all the input fellows, extremely helpful so far!

Although I prefer Hayabusa, Fireblades are very popular in the UK for BECs.
Great deal !

I have a Triumph 955i ST that I was planning the same thing, then I bought a Starlet, and I would sell it to you for a screaming deal. Already disassembled. Thing was ugly but ran GREAT when I got it. My friend took it to 130 to make sure it was solid. No problems. This is a complete bike with all you need. I am in Central MO if you are interested. e-mail me.
Singleslammer Email sent on 955 engine.. I know not my thread but still 3 cylinders of badassitude can't resist.
My friend has a 1050 ST and man does it sound good and haul ass.
