I suspect Ford is gonna have to come up with a quick redesign of front control arms and rear axles.

It might be easier to just not crash the cars.

I watched both races. Spec Pinata with Mustangs, of course they broke a few. The rear toe link is "fusible"devil. Same as a GT4 car underneath except for the third pedal. I am delighted to see this primarily for that third pedal. I'm sure after a few years and plenty of teams buying in, Ford will pull the rug out from beneath it. Probably right after they off Jim Farley...

Yeah, I noticed a number of MX-5 Cup drivers in the race.

My friends were giving me E36 M3 that I'm less than 3 years away from qualifying for the Dark Horse Legends class.

Chevy: We're going to race Corvettes until they tell us we can't again.

Dodge: We're going to kill off the only cool car we've ever made even though it was a fan favorite for nearly two decades.

Ford: We're going to invest a ton of money into road-racing programs, get a ton of support, and nuke it at it's peak without any kind of press release regarding its demise.

haven't watched the whole race yet but I checked out the extended highlight package on IMSA's YouTube. The racing seemed pretty good in the pack, but a bit strung out at the front.

I guess my big initial thought is that seemingly all of our current spec series are heavily geared toward "talent development" and pitched to fans as stepping stones to something better. Sure, this is an absolutely necessary inclusion in the marketplace of series, but it's also a crowded marketplace and I'm not sure you'll ever do a better job at being the top of that heap than MX-5 Cup. So it seems like there's an opportunity for a spec series to lean in to another marketing hook aside from "Here's where kids come on the way to their real goals." European series do a great job highlighting the other end of the spectrum with veteran-based competition with drivers who have maybe lost the edge for HyperCar but still have plenty of talent and name recognition.

Anyway, I love spec series in general, regardless of the mission. This one seems to have some decent ingredients and for a first-ever demonstration the racing wasn't bad. Ford probably sold plenty of toe links and control arms, too.
