P.S. I wanted to add this to the last Focus RS thread but I couldn't find it thanks to the non existent search function on here. Best I found was from 2013 using Google.
If this is as good as it's rumored to be, Ford is doing amazing things lately.
The fact that Adrian is excited is editing.

More proof that I don't understand the stock market. Ford's lineup is better than ever, and years ahead of the competition as a whole, and yet their stock is still in the tank.
I am excite. Some of the Borg Warner engineers are flirting with 450hp using bolt on turbo, fuel system upgrades, tune and mountune bits. It's a monster that will eat souls and spits fire.
Interesting move by Ford not doing the reveal at a major auto show as well. I see the potential benefit of doing it this way.

So, Ford is making a WRX/Evo competitor, just a decade past when those cars first were big news in the States?
I've liked the recent Focii I've drivem, so I look forward to the official launch, but I won't hold my breath since I am not currently looking for a new car.

They lifted Alcoa's stock for me over the past 15 months though, so I'm happy (although their announcement to not expand aluminum production beyond the F series has given some of those gains back).

The stock market has little relation to reality any more. There is no understanding it unless you are a HFT algo or a Hedge Fund bajillionaire, then it is easy to understand. All they know is that they take money from the many to enrich the few. I agree that Ford makes some really good vehicles though.
Ford traded at a buck during the crisis. 15x with a 4% dividend is not enough?

No.
I sold it at 17 or something when I had it. it ought to be mid 20s for a portfolio that strong. Didn't meant to threadjack.

The stock market is about speculation and profits. While we as US consumers see Ford doing very well, being a huge global company with their fingers in markets all over the world, the short-term prospects for meeting market analysts profit forecasts doesn't look good considering the large amount of global uncertainty in the economy - especially in Europe right now.
Whatever... it's still a good time to be a car enthusiast in the US.

Sure is. New Mustang GT, New Focus RS or used Cayman/Boxster S, oh the choices we have .
Sorry for adding a GIF if your computer sucks. too bad...
Is this thing supposed to be AWD? AWD = interested. FWD= not interested.

Its supposedly AWD but that's unconfirmed.
I'm closely watching this, as I will be in the market for a new ride within the year.Gotta be a hatch, and I hate FWD. Subaru decided to not make a WRX fit the bill, ....and cant seem to make a nice stereo either, so they are out. That makes my 4 door (wife approved, fam. friendly) new car the RS or the "if it ever comes out" new AWD Mazdaspeed 3.
Please let AWD turbo be true!
Since the new STi isn't available as a hatchback it got crossed off my list. Kinda sucks, I was hoping they'd make one.
If after all this talk of it's AWD it turns out to not be there is going to be disappointment had
I'll be buying one if it is awd. Already have started saving for a downpayment!

I am curious to see what happens with this. The Focus ST can be found discounted new pretty easily. I wonder if a $40k Focus will sell.

You know that's good 'ol Mr Block driving, right? :) Road and Track article
Can't wait! How much?
Cool. It is indeed a good time to be an automotive enthusiast. Too bad there wasn't an AWD super-Focus kicking around when the Evo and STi hatch were still going strong. That would have been a battle for the ages.
Edit. Is it confirmed that it will be awd? If it ends up being a fwd car I will be prepared to avoid the internet at the time of reveal and spare myself from the many complainings that are sure to happen.
I bought an 02 focus SVT because I loved focus rally cars. I just dont know that I will be able to justify buying one (I just put money into the miata) but I hope they do sell so I can buy one after they depreciate

So do the Europeans complain that we get all the good stuff now? Kinda like we did about cars over there for, like, forever?

This. In a few years it will be time to replace the WRX, and I have every intention of staying with AWD (or at least RWD) for the DD. Focus RS goes to/near the top of the list if it has AWD. If not, it's not on the list at all.....
