Blow through or suck through? Blow is easier for me but...

I plan on adding a supercharger to a once E/MFI motor that is now carb-ed. It will be 1 2bl carb or 2 1bl carbs, or maybe 2 2bl carbs. 1.8l 4. I will not entertain bringing it back to EFI, not worth it for this engine. SC will be from a Merc SLK230.

Also, what considerations should I...umm...consider if the SC is going to be mounted to the side of the engine compartment vice to the engine?

Low boost, intercooler or no?

Much body cancer to deal with and need to get the motor running in it's current form, but trying to plan ahead.

I already have a turbo car and want a SCed car and this platform has had minimal SCs attached to it over the years.

Blow through.  Most turbos have oil seals that do not handle vacuum very well, I would imagine the same is for clutched superchargers.

Plus, the throttle response gets really weird with a supercharger when the throttle body is a long way from the engine.  I know someone who did a draw through supercharger setup on his Miata and it seemed like the engine ran hard for a second or so between when he would shut the throttle and when the engine would stop pulling.

You WILL need a bypass valve.  The VW G60 had an interesting one, the throttle body incorporated one connected via the linkage.  More throttle opening equaled less bypass opening.
